Coming from Ghana, West Africa, where most people lack access to computers and lack knowledge about technology, pursuing a career in applied sciences was a challenge for me. Having the opportunity to advance my education in the United States of America by pursuing my dreams of becoming a Web Developer is a great privilege.

As a student working towards an associate degree in Computer Information Systems at Bronx Community College, I chose to study Web Page Development because the invention of the internet has helped transformed the world into a global village. As an active member of the African Student Association and member of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, I have learned to work collaboratively in turning ideas into reality. Interning as a Web Developer at Code to Work has given me the experience of using HTML 5, CSS 3 and JavaScript to build websites for the company, and overseeing other interns has given me the opportunity to enhance my leadership skill.

I am honored to be an America Needs You 2016 Fellow. With the help of America Needs You, I strongly believe that I will develop the necessary skills to reach my career goals. I look forward to working with equally motivated Fellows and establishing lasting relationships with Mentor Coaches.
