I was born and raised as the only child in a small apartment located in Chicago. Struggle defined my early years of life due to the low income and suppressing conditions of the area we lived in, however, when the opportunity arrived, my family and I moved to the suburbs so that I could attend school. I promised that above all, I would strive for the very best.
Earning a position as a finalist in the Best of Berwyn program, I went on to earn the Daniel Murphy Scholarship, giving me the opportunity to attend a reputable high school. I have been utilizing my time to get involved in my community, including volunteering at LaGrange Memorial Hospital, becoming a teacher as well as teacher’s assistant in my parishes, and reaching out to aid in soup kitchens and food depositories. Currently, I am pursuing a nursing degree at the College of DuPage and have become CNA certified as well as CPR certified.
I am determined to pursue my career in nursing, specializing in neonatal because this is my lifelong passion. As a persistent student, ANY will strengthen my skills and help develop my leadership abilities to ensure that I become successful in reaching my goal of neonatal nursing. It is an honor to be part of the 2015 Illinois Fellow class!
