Growing up, I’ve always been the one my family went to when they had a problem, be it something with homework, how to talk to a teacher, how to fix a computer issue, or even why something on their body hurts and the remedy for it. Even though I’m the third child between three boys, they would all seek me out when they needed some sort of guidance or assistance. I grew to develop a knack for helping people, but not in a traditional sense.
I’m currently attending the University of Illinois at Chicago as an information and data systems student, and I am also an intern at Tyson Foods in their Information Solutions department. I would like to get certified in Knowledge Centered Support (KCS), so I could improve customer satisfaction when they have issues with their technology, as well as User Experience (UX), so I can give end users a better experience when they work with the technology they have. Both of these certifications utilize a great deal of craft and skills, which is what attracts me to these certifications.
With America Needs You, I know I’ll get the guidance needed when it comes to getting a degree and starting a career. I’ll be able to strengthen my weaknesses and heighten my strengths. I am more than thrilled and honored to be a 2015 Illinois Fellow.
