Kimberly A. Harris is a co-founder and the CEO of America Needs You (ANY), a national nonprofit that fights for economic-mobility for ambitious first-generation college students, through transformative mentorship and intensive career development. ANY serves over 400 students in New York, New Jersey, Illinois and California. Under Kimberly’s leadership, ANY became the youngest recipient of the New York Community Trust Nonprofit Excellence Award in 2015 for management practices, operations and financial systems. ANY has also been highlighted by a number of media outlets, including ABC, New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg, Huffington Post and Chicago Tribune. In 2016, Kimberly was selected as one of New York Nonprofit Media’s 40 Under 40 Rising Stars.
From 2006-2013, Kimberly was an Associate at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP, where she represented clients in a variety of industries in global mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures and other complex corporate transactions. In a pro bono capacity, Kimberly worked with clients on education reform initiatives, political asylum matters, child custody disputes and domestic violence cases. Additionally, at Skadden, she was actively involved with the summer associate committee and the diversity and inclusion department. Skadden recognized Kimberly as an Outstanding Civic Leader in 2011 for her commitment to the firm and pro bono efforts.
Kimberly received a Juris Doctorate from Columbia Law School in 2006 and in 2008 was recognized as an “Outstanding Alumnus” by Columbia’s Black Law Student Association. She received a Bachelor of Business Administration, with high distinction, from the Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan in 2003, where she concentrated in Finance and Computer Information Systems. Kimberly is from Chicago, Illinois, where she attended public schools.
